The gorgeous Poppy Reserve overlooks the Smith Family Vineyard in the High Desert of Los Angeles. The vines struggle mightily in the heat and sandlike soils, producing complex wines with noticeable character. A constant breeze benefits the grapes and keeps disease pressure at bay. It's extremely hot during the day and cool at night, as the vineyard sits at over 3000 feet above sea level. This vineyard produces a wine showing notes of classic peppery red fruit, cinnamon, sweet tobacco, and red licorice. Wonderful acidity carries through the finish.
