2021 was a tough vintage in the Loire because of devastating frost and hail, which left many winemakers in the region searching for outside grape sources. Julien Pineau was able to pivot by sourcing Colombard from Domaine Jeandaugé in Southwest France. The fruit was pressed at the domaine then aged in 50% barrel and 50% vat. The result is a dynamic, nuanced and mineral expression of this underrepresented French varietal.
